Under the New Moon: A Havurah Gathering

Sound • Stillness • Song • Ritual
Location: Machi Yoga, 1116 12th St, Hood River, OR 97031

Cost $18 per person: Register here

Join us for a special event with spiritual shepherds in our beloved Havurah group, Gabe, Shana, and Zevi, for an evening of sound, meditation, Jewish wisdom, and sacred ritual. We will gather in community to welcome Rosh Chodesh, the beginning of a new month in the Hebrew calendar.

We’ll begin by settling into the resonance of a live sound bath with Gabe and Shana, weaving together Hebrew melodies and niggunim with the vibrations of gongs, crystal bowls, flutes, and other instruments. Let the sounds wash over you, quiet the mind, and open a space for listening, connection, and renewal.

From sound, we’ll move into a guided meditation with Zevi, exploring the wisdom and rhythm of the Hebrew calendar and the spiritual significance of Rosh Chodesh—the monthly renewal of the moon and an invitation to begin again.

Come as you are.
Bring your whole self.
Make space for what is ready to begin.
All are welcome. No previous yoga or meditation experience necessary.

Blankets will be provided but please bring a mat and anything else to keep you warm and cozy.

This will be a full event. We encourage early registration to reserve your spot. Payment at the door is accepted. Please contact Valerie if you have any questions.

BACKGROUND ON ZEVI: Zevi Slavin is a Jewish educator and founder of Seekers of Unity, a project exploring mysticism across the world's religious and philosophical traditions. Raised in the Chabad Chasidic lineage, Zevi brings an interdisciplinary approach to mysticism, making complex ideas accessible through comparative and contemplative frameworks. His passionate teaching style and open exploration invites both religious and secular audiences into a global conversation on the mysteries of existence.

BACKGROUND ON GABE AND SHANA: Gabriel and Shana weave together sound, movement, and ritual. Gabriel has shared yoga, energy work, and sound healing since 2014, grounding his Baptiste Vinyasa and Ashtanga practice in chanting and sound. Shana's dharma is helping others find inner peace; she lives by yoga's eightfold path, honoring nature, food, and people as sacred and celebrating them through ritual.
